The GMS Yearbook staff celebrated another successful year with a field trip to BU and WVVA! Students learned about potential careers in business and communications. Thank you, Chris Shoemaker, Charity Holman, and The Railyard for collaborating with us on a fun day! ❤️💛

Tazewell County 4-H: Mrs. Bulson's students in 7th grade Exploratory are planting herbs and tomatoes in a hydroponic planting station. They learned about the benefits of growing your own food & how hydroponic planting stations have shaped the way for making growing food easily.

GMS conducted a successful lockdown drill today. Again, this was a routine lockdown drill.

Mrs. Bohon's seventh-grade reading classes at GMS completed a novel study of “The Coffin Quilt" by Ann Rinaldi.  The novel is based on the Hatfield and McCoy feud from the 1800s.  Students completed a final project by writing essays comparing themes, character traits, and family dynamics to their personal lives. Mrs. Heffinger provided historical context to quilting patterns, designs, and skills to Mrs. Bohon's students. They sewed small squares and observed different types of quilts.  Additionally, Mrs. Heffinger collaborated with Mrs. Bohon on creating a quilt representing each student's family.  Each quilt square was created by the students including a modern "family crest" symbolizing their family dynamics. 

Mrs. Bohon's Reading 7 class completed their novel study on "The Coffin Quilt," a historical fiction story about the Hatfield & McCoy feud. Students wrote essays & designed family themed quilt squares. Thank you, Mrs. Heffinger for bringing this project to life by sewing the beautiful quilt! ❤️💛

Autism Awareness Month was recognized by the TCPS School Board last night. 8th grader, Gavin Boothe, read his middle school commencement speech written in Mrs. Meadow's Reading 8 class discussing how he's overcome his own obstacles and challenges. We're proud of you, Gavin!🩵🧩
